Ruskin Bond to celebrate his 85th Birthday with the release of new book in Mussoorie
The renowned children’s author Ruskin Bond is set to celebrate his 85th Birthday with the release his new book titled “Coming round the Mountain” at Cambridge Book depot in Musooorie, today,May 19th.
The book is a memoir set against the backdrop of the partition where the author has eloquently jotted down his experiences about his time during the independence year. The book is published by Puffin and is being marketed as absolute classic and collector’s item.
It is the third in the award-winning series for children that include “Looking for Rainbow, and “Till the clouds Roll By”.
In ‘Coming round the Mountain’, Ruskin Bond has relived his schooldays particularly in 1947, the year India got its Independence when the country had to go through the tragedy of partition.
The preparation to celebrate his birthday are on lot of hectic activities were seen at Cambridge Book depot the shop from where he would be launching his new book on his birthday.
The owners of the shop Sunil and Surendar Arora busy with planning and decorating the shop with buntings and lining up the books that will be autographed by the author.
The bookshop has been decorated with greeting cards sent by readers and a colourful banner on the entry door wishing him "Happy Birthday". Several of his fans are already in town and are staying overnight to wish him on his birthday tomorrow. Umesh Gaikwad from Lucknow said, “I have been his fan since childhood and am eager to meet him tomorrow and wish him a long life”.
The Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee has an unending list of books, novels and fiction-based stories for the children. His books have been adapted into television serial and films some being “'Ek Tha Rusty'. 'Junoon', 'The Blue Umbrella', and '7 Khoon Maaf'.
