Archana Puran Singh is a well-known Bollywood celebrity. She received immense popularity for the role of “Mrs Braganza’ in the movie “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. Even after being an established actor she informed Indian Express that how she feels deprived and cheated by Bollywood.
Archana has adored numerous shows with her brilliant acting skills. She has been featured in shows like “Shrimaan Shrimati”, “Jaane Bhi Do Paro” and “Bol Bacchan”. She has been the judges in reality shows like “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” and “The Kapil Sharma Show”. Her uncontrollable laughter has always been topic of interest among the viewers.
Recently she stated “That chhaap (image) is so solid. Also, many people feel that what they should offer me after Ms. Braganza. It’s been almost 25 years since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released. And the character is still following me. People also feel that I am best suited only for comedy. As an actor, I feel deprived, cheated, and I have been left yearning for good roles”.
According to her performing similar roles, again and again, is the “death of an actor” because it deprives her of the chance of showing her versatile capabilities. Inspired by Neena Gupta Archana came forward to ask for work through social media. She also expressed that people got to see only one aspect of her craft and she desires to entertain the folks with other aspects of her acting skill.
“They say if you keep getting the same roles, you are very lucky, and people want to keep watching you. However, I feel it’s the death of an actor. I remember Neena Gupta had once posted on social media seeking work; I guess I will take this opportunity to ask for work from directors and producers”.
She also expressed “I am dying to perform. People have seen just one aspect of my craft. I also have a serious side. I can do so much more than just comedy. I can cry and make people cry too). That side of me is yet to be explored, but I am sure it will happen one day.”
