Days after returning from a rehabilitation centre, a 25-year-old drug-addict allegedly stabbed his parents, sister and grandmother to death in southwest Delhi’s Palam, police said on Wednesday. Keshav killed his entire family Tuesday night following a quarrel, officials said, adding their bodies were found in separate rooms at their home with blood all over.
He apparently used a sharp object to slit their throats and stabbed them multiple times, the police said, sharing horrific details. The bloodied bodies of Keshav's grandmother Deewana Devi, 75, father Dinesh, 50, mother Darshana, and sister Urvashi, 18, were all found in separate rooms. The bodies of his parents were found in the bathroom and those of his sister and grandmother were in other rooms. The deceased have been identified as grandmother Deewana Devi (75), father Dinesh (50), mother Darshana and sister Urvarshi (18).
As Keshav went on the stabbing spree, the screams of his family members alerted some relatives, who live in the same building, and neighbours. Keshav killed his entire family Tuesday night following a quarrel, officials said.
Keshav's cousin Kuldeep, who lives in the same building, was the first person to get hold of the accused. As I entered the house, my sister told me she heard Urvashi crying. When I went upstairs to check, Keshav did not entertain me saying it was a family matter and told me to leave."
"When I was gathering some people in the neighbourhood to intervene, I spotted Keshav running downstairs. I managed to get hold of him and handed him over to the police," he said. According to the police, the 25-year-old committed the gruesome crime after he fought with them over not having a stable job. Keshav has reportedly been out of work since Diwali and often fought with his family members.
A case under section 302 IPC has been registered and further investigation is underway. The initial probe revealed that the motive of the crime appeared to be a quarrel among family members as the accused did not have a stable job, police said.
