Dangerous fire outbreak in a Durga Puja pandal in Narthua village of Bhadohi district in Uttar Pradesh took three lives and injured 64 visitors. The incident happened during an on-going digital show. Around 300 to 400 people were inside the pandal while the fired lashed out.

According to Aurai police station, District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi the life threatening event took place around 9.30 p.m. on October 2. After investigating the scene police officers revealed on October 3 that overheating of a halogen light is the cause of this dreadful fire mishap. Unfortunately fire turned a beautiful pandal into ashes.

Police successfully identified the three deceased out of 67 people that were injured in the fire - Ankush Soni (12), Jaya Devi (45) and Naveen (10) took their last breath yesterday. Gaurang Rathi also mentioned about the identification of the injured personal and the district administration and police have their list. He also pointed that were women and children constituted majority of the people inside the pandal.

DM Rathi also said “A halogen light at the pandal overheated, causing an electric wire to catch fire at multiple points simultaneously. Soon the fire engulfed the wooden scaffolding and the tent”. He also described how this cause of the fire was successfully discovered by a special probe team established by Additional Director General Ram Kumar”.

Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar informed about an FIR that has been lodged at Aurai police station. According to the offcials the dreadful incident took place in the Durga Puja Pandal which was constructed by Ekta Club Pooja Samiti in Narthua village of Uttar Pradesh. 

An official of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted on Sunday to express how the CM Yogi couldn’t resist himself of giving condolences to the loss of lives in this this accident. Adityanath has also directed officials to ensure the availability of proper treatment to each individual who suffered injuries in the incident.
