Indian television has had something for everyone, be it the usual Saas-Bahu sagas, the oh-so-typical romances and even the fantasy tales that stirred every 90s kid’s imagination. And adding on to its palate, we even saw some very amazing reality shows coming to the small screen. Now with the pandemic hitting every possible front of life, we saw how a few shows from the past were revisited by channels which made us wonder, that if these sob-stories can return then why not some other classics too.

While the previously existing normal life doesn’t seem to be coming to its original form for another few months, why not we grab some snacks and laugh our way through this misery the world is going through. Check out our list of sitcoms we wish to see on television once again…

1. Hum Paanch

This classic comedy-drama Hum Paanch from the 90s can never be forgotten.  Airing from 1995-1999, this show was an absolute success with bringing us the quirks of a middle-class-family of five daughters and their parents living and laughing through some hilarious situations on a daily basis.  While the sequel of this show didn’t do very well, the original is something we would absolutely love to see again.

2. Khichdi

The dumbfound Parikh family danced their way through many hearts with their very different way of seeing the world. And while the characters could leave anyone rolling on the floor laughing, Khichdi and its characters especially Hansa and Praful have been the most popular in the sitcom space. With a successful season 2, the last season of the show in 2018 didn’t get that great a response.

3. Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai

Bringing out the hilarious side of a high society South Bombay family, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai became a cult in the Indian TV space. With lots of classy humour, this show was a breeze of fresh air. The team had a season 2 sometime back and Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai Take-Two equally received a great response.

4. Dekh Bhai Dekh

Probably one of the first and best Hindi sitcoms was Dekh Bhai Dekh starring Shekhar Suman, Farida Jalal, Deven Bhojani, Amar Upadhyay, Urvashi Dholakia and many more popular names. And this oh-so-hilarious show brought to us the three generations of Diwan family who lived in their ancestral bungalow in the suburbs of Mumbai. The story revolved around relationship troubles, business problems, relationship with parents and in-laws, all of it wrapped in with some great humour.

5. Tu Tu Main Main

If you wonder that the Saas-Bahu’s bitter-sweet equation only came in with the dramas, you probably haven’t watched this show. Starring Supriya Pilagoankar and the late Rima Lagoo, Tu Tu Main Main was probably one of most hilarious versions of the saas-bahu saga we saw on television.

Well, there might be many more shows, we might have missed out, so if you know of any then do let us know.
