International Men's Day 2021: The 19th of November is International Men's Day (IMD). Many people will wonder why males require a particular day when they can be considered on any given day. Men, on the other hand, require almost as much celebration and support as the other communities, so while this November event may raise an eyebrow, men still require almost as much celebration and support as the other communities. The day celebrates men's good contributions to the world, their homes, and their society. The day also encourages men to be positive role models and raises awareness about men's health.
SIGNIFICANCE OF INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY 2021
According to WHO data, suicide is the top cause of mortality among men under the age of 45. In many countries around the world, such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Russia, this is correct. Clearly, there are reasons behind this that are exclusive to men.
Role models, society and cultural conditioning, and sexual identity all play a part. This reveals a lot about our communities' men's psychology, behaviour, and mental health.
'Men will be men' and 'boys don't cry' are two instances of how men are gendered from an early age. It is a conscience that may be found in a variety of civilizations around the world. As men mature, they are expected to project a tough, unaffected demeanour, which frequently conceals a tremendous need to express how they are feeling emotionally.
This isn't to imply that it's easier for women than it is for men. This day is not meant to compete with International Women's Day, but rather to urge males to open up and communicate by allowing boys to live a life of values, ideals, and character.
HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY
IMD was founded in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh. He was a history professor at Trinidad and Tobago's University of the West Indies. Teelucksingh chose November 19 to commemorate his father's birthday. He urged people to use the day to raise awareness about issues that impact boys and men.
In its early years, IMD had a lot of support in the Caribbean, and owing to continual connectivity and invitations extended to people all over the world, International Men's Day has established itself in the international arena.
THEME FOR INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY 2021
International Men's Day has six pillars, one of which focuses on strengthening gender relations and supporting gender equality for both men and women. The theme for IMD 2021 is "Better Men-Women Relationships."
