Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has given very simple career advice to Gen Z and young people in the workforce, stating that it is essential to be humble and gritty early on. In a podcast on Capital Group, The Power of Advice, Jassy explained that unless you are prepared to be at the bottom and serve your time, you are hardly likely to become successful.
He emphasized doing anything one is requested to (reasonably); being recognized as a reliable and hard worker, and becoming a learning machine—always taking in the new skills rather than retaining the old ones. Jassy, who started after working several jobs, such as sportscasting and investment banking, at Amazon, observed that such an attitude is the difference between those who rise and those who stall. His message is ringing through much as a wakeup call to young people of today who have their ambitions.
