The first AI-native payments platform to roll out in India is Cashfree. Here, a new feature by Cashfree Payments allows businesses to receive payments directly in AI chatbots such as ChatGPT (through the OpenAI Apps SDK) and Claude (through an Anthropic MCP Apps). Along with Mastercard and Swiggy, the feature was unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, and the feature lets the user find the product and make the purchase in the same conversation without having to redirect to third-party checkout screens or redirecting to a different conversation with the brand to validate their payment details.

It was demonstrated via a live demo of how to place an order with Swiggy and make payment with a single tap with minimal friction, increased conversions, and user intent in the new era of agentic commerce retained. Cashfree is the first Indian payments firm to realize such integration, and, therefore, they fulfill a crucial marketing void where AI leads to discovery and breaks down payments.

The solution is PCI compliant and provides secure authentication and fast integration (in less than 5 minutes by developers). With this development, Cashfree is in the lead of conversational AI commerce that has the potential to revolutionize e-commerce in India and other markets as more people use LLMs to make their purchases.
