This was the first-of-its-kind anywhere on record example of co-creation of value in the deep-tech industry when, in an epochal move in the history of electronics and information technology development in India, a residential mobility of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), through the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, on February 20, 2026.

The agreement opens the way to the first institutionally focused quantum and artificial intelligence campus of the university in Amaravati, the capital area of the state. Located in the structure of the deemed-to-be University of NIELIT, this campus specializing in quantum technologies and AI will be the first to be founded specifically in this country as the academic center dedicated to the creation of brand-new technologies: the elements of global innovation.

Advanced programs in the fields of quantum computing, quantum algorithms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, high-performance computing, and other areas will be highlighted in the proposed campus. It seeks to nurture advanced research, company partnerships, skill building, and talent mentoring to complement startups and businesses in new technologies.

This project fits perfectly with the national scope of the Quantum Mission in India and the grand vision of Quantum Valley in Andhra Pradesh, which makes Amaravati the center of excellence in the field of deep-tech education and innovation nationwide. The relationship indicates a change in policy framework to concrete institutional infrastructure, as well as UG, PG, and PhD provisions.

The move was welcomed by officials such as the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and MeitY officials as a step towards India taking the lead in quantum and artificial intelligence. The campus will fit into other collaborations, including the UN International Computing Centre and Amaravati Quantum Valley, to be a Centre of Excellence in AI and Quantum.

This specialized center is expected to result in faster research discoveries, a pool of international talent, and economic development with the help of technology-oriented industries. The Amaravati campus will be a paradigm changer in the sphere of higher education of transformative technologies as the construction and setup advance, and India will be high on the atmosphere of quantum-AI mastery.
