It's official: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's much-speculated sequel to his 2009 cult classic 3 Idiots is on. Speaking in an interview, Aamir confirmed that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is already in the process of making 3 Idiots 2, calling the storyline "beautiful" and "unusual" but with the same amount of comedy that made the first film an instant cult classic.

The movie will be set a decade after 3 Idiots, where the lives of its protagonists—Rancho (Aamir Khan), Farhan (R. Madhavan), and Raju (Sharman Joshi)—are followed. Aamir is delighted to again take up the mantle of the iconic Phunsukh Wangdu and has already heard the narration.

The script is still in the final touches but will likely be one of Aamir's next big releases. Fans couldn't be happier to see the return of the characters that brought a generation of viewers inspiration to "pursue excellence." We are looking forward to more news on the casting and pre-production.
