In a renewed series of a property fight over a long period, producer Boney Kapoor and actor-daughter duo Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor had moved a civil revision petition to the Madras High Court. The case is appealing the decision of an Additional District Judge in Chengalpattu to deny Chandrabanu and her children, M.C. Sivakami and M.C. Natarajan, a portion of the 4.7-acre piece of land on East Coast Road (ECR), Chennai, purchased by Sridevi in 1988.
The claimants present fraudulent sale activities and request the stakeholders to void them, claiming a right to the original owner, M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar, as an ancestor. Boney Kapoor has termed the allegations as being legally unsustainable and a case of attempted fraud, pointing out the fact that the property was rightfully obtained following a split of the family in 1960.
Justice T.V. Thamilselvi agreed to hear the case on March 26 and stayed all the proceedings in the lower courts on the interim on March 16, 2026. The case, which has been ongoing since 2015, signifies the family struggle of protecting the heritage resources of Sridevi against continuous legal battles.
