On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Melody Queen was bid an emotional farewell by the state authorities in full state honors at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai as the last rites of the legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle were given.
The 92-year-old legend died on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital due to multi-organ failure due to a cardiac arrest and a chest infection. Her corpse was draped in the tricolor and given an antim darshan in her home at Lower Parel, where she was given respect by industry heavy hitters like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Sachin Tendulkar, as well as politicians.
Anand Bhosle, her son, conducted the final rites in Vedic music and a solemn mood, and the police band played the national anthem in honor of the state. Close relatives and friends, such as Tabu, have helped to comfort granddaughter Zanai Bhosle.
The iconic singer had thousands of songs in many languages whose legacy remained unreplaced by anyone even after seven decades of the influential career of Asha Bhosle. The country is deeply saddened by the loss of one of the greatest musical voices in India, and tributes are in every quarter.
