Akshaye Khanna’s first look as Shukracharya in the mythological film Mahakali has set social media on fire, with fans declaring it “peak casting.”
The teaser, released recently, shows the actor almost unrecognisable with a long beard, matted hair and intense presence as the Guru of the Asuras. Fresh off his powerful turn as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar, Khanna’s transformation has drawn widespread applause. Comments like “Akshaye Sir as Shukracharya Peak Casting After Dhurandhar” and “Goosebumps” flooded timelines.
Directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (following Hanu-Man), Mahakali marks Khanna’s Telugu debut. In one gripping moment, he delivers the command “Raktabeej! Manav jaati ka sarvanaash kardo.” The film, set for release on January 8, 2027, also features Bhoomi Shetty and Sriya Reddy.
Fans and critics alike are calling the casting a perfect match for the complex, morally grey Asura guru.
