Income tax officials in Hyderabad have exposed the glamorous lifestyle of the 'Gold Man' during an investigation against the flashy jewelry flaunters in the city. The 34-year-old man from Attapur in Hyderabad, aka Surya Bhai or Pallapu Suresh Kumar, aka 'Old City' Surya Bhai, wore 12 pieces of jewelry to the Income Tax Office on Friday evening. He claimed that the jewelry he wore is worth about ₹1 crore. He later reduced the worth of jewelry during interrogation by income tax officials. The officials detected the worth of jewelry as ₹3 lakh. They detected that most of the jewelry is made of copper coated with rhodium, and one piece of jewelry is made of silver coated with gold.
This has been seen in the initiation of an inquiry against another individual, namely, Konda Vijay Kumar, who has already been found to possess real gold in the past. Surya Bhai has not filed his income tax returns for the last six years, apart from a year when he filed a return of ₹4.9 lakh pertaining to his business of a gym and a chicken shop.
