One of the biggest moments of the 2026 World Cup so far was when streamer sensation IShowSpeed was unable to see New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sitting next to him as the Brazil side took on the Morocco side at MetLife Stadium.

During the energetically live stream of the game, Speed seemed oblivious until he got a lot of “the mayor” in his chat. He was confused and turned and said, “Mayor? "Who's the mayor?” before realizing the man next to him was indeed NYC’s Mayor Mamdani. Then the two shook hands heartily as Speed introduced himself, saying, “My name is Speed. Nice to meet you,” and calling him a “W mayor."

The scene was a healthy and somewhat chaotic one that soon became viral and contrasted the high-energy YouTuber and the city leader. Mamdani's cool demeanor was well-appreciated by the fans, and Speed broke out into laughter. The moment is one of the biggest moments off the field of the tournament so far.
