As Jaipur's Princess Gauravi Kumari and titular Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh (Pacho) made their glamorous debut on the Met Gala 2026 red carpet. The two figures were representative of royalty in traditional Prabal Gurung designs that were a perfect match with the theme, which was to state that fashion is art.
Princess Gauravi converted an old chiffon saree, used by her great-grandmother, legendary Maharani Gayatri Devi, into a beautiful gown, paying a very sincere tribute to her traditions and the pink heritage of Jaipur. Meanwhile, Pacho impressed with the majestic Phulghar coat, embroidered in 600 hours of work, glorifying traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship.
Their royal-modern themes were soon viral, with their websites getting rave reviews on the perfect combination and harmony of traditional, luxurious, high-fashion styles. There was a roar of approval of the Jaipur royalties taking to the stage, the real Indian aristocracy, at the largest open event in the fashion world.
This release is an influential demonstration of how royal art still first charms the world in such a cultural event as the Met Gala.
