Behind the scenes at the Met Gala are some quite bizarre rules that A-listers must strictly adhere to or risk being blacklisted.
Top among them is the no-phones and no-selfies policy. Visitors are urged to stay in the present, with Anna Wintour thinking that it makes conversations more enjoyable. Although a few sneak bathroom selfies, there is a prohibition of official social media.
Food regulations are no less paradoxical: garlic, onions, chives, and parsley are not allowed on the menu to ensure bad breath or tooth flakes. Smoking is forbidden, and the visitors are not allowed to come into contact with any artwork.
Other quaint regulations are a strict 18+ age policy, no sitting anywhere except where Anna Wintour herself shall be sitting, outfitting must go through the personal approval of Anna Wintour, and the number of guests is restricted to just 20 seconds of private conversation with Anna Wintour on the steps.
Such strange rules assist in keeping the event exclusive and glamorous and help keep the costume art-themed night memorable for all the right reasons.
