Mouni Roy's husband Suraj Nambiar is popping up in the news for why they unfollowed one another on Instagram. They allegedly broke up almost six months ago but have yet to file for divorce.

The couple's marriage is of the long-distance type (Suraj is living in Dubai), and it was doomed for months, as reported by journalist Vickey Lalwani. Mouni has been going to these events on her own since the end of 2025, and sources state she's been moving home and looking to lawyers.

Mouni and Suraj jointly issued a statement on 14th May 2026 after stating that they are separated after four years of marriage. They said, “We have decided not to stay together, and time is needed to handle this matter privately and amicably.” They appealed to the media and fans to refrain from peddling rumors and remain respectful of their privacy.

There have been rumors of incompatibility and Suraj's insecurities with being overshadowed by his wife personally, but nothing in particular has been mentioned. In January 2022, they were in Goa and married according to their own Bengali and Malayali customs.

It comes as a surprise to fans, who had envisioned the two as a solid celebrity duo. They both have asked for their time during this challenging period.
