Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated Jailer 2 has run into controversy even before its first full song release. The 32-second promo of ‘Ala Bolelo’, featuring the superstar and Shamna Kasim, has angered many Kerala fans over the mispronunciation of Malayalam words.

Composed and sung by Anirudh Ravichander with lyrics by Arunraja Kamaraj, the track includes Malayalam lines. Viewers particularly objected to the handling of “la” sounds, with several calling it “not Malayalam” and “irritating.”

Social media users urged Tamil filmmakers to hire Malayalam-knowing lyricists and singers for authenticity, while some Tamil fans also agreed that poor pronunciation feels disrespectful.

Despite the backlash, many remain excited about the catchy beat and Shamna’s traditional kasavu saree look, timed around Onam. The full song is scheduled for release on August 21. The debate has once again highlighted the sensitivity around accurate representation of regional languages in South Indian cinema.
