Sonu Sood, Katrina Kaif, Priyank Chopra Jonas: Meet the messiah’s of lockdown

While many have stepped to help the needy in times of the pandemic, some Bollywood actors particularly stood out for their contribution.

2020 has brought on us lots of not so happy things, and amongst these the biggest has been pandemic which brought with it a months-long lockdown. While this lockdown is something we will all remember in our lives, the many problems that came with it were also something that couldn’t be dealt with easily. 

Most of us faced struggles for basic necessities like food and shelter, while the migrants were stranded with nowhere to go. Not just this, loss of jobs led to the loss of lives, and some of us even faced heavy pay cuts. But right when we struggling with these issues, some Bollywood stars came to our rescue like a knight in shining armor. 

Practically, almost the entire film industry stepped in to help the needy with the PM-Cares Fund and the CM Relief Fund. But some, in particular, went the extra mile, here are the true messiahs of lockdown…

Sonu Sood

He is a true real-life hero, who not only contributed in cash but also in kind. Yes, Sonu Sood stepped down to the streets literally in order to help those in need. Not only did he make travel arrangements for migrants and daily wage earners to reach back home safely, he even compensated to the families of those who died on the way. Other than that, Sonu even helped children in rural areas with facilities to gain proper education, he provided students with smartphones so that they could attend online classes. And these are just very few good deeds Sonu did to help people during the lockdown. 

Diana Penty

Actress Diana Penty also stood out for her services to the heroes of the pandemic, yes with her initiative called The Khaki Project Diana contributed towards health and safety for the policemen who tried maintaining law and order during the lockdown. She started with distributing face masks, sanitizers, and PPE kits to the police station in her vicinity and later went on to cover all police stations across South Mumbai. 

Salman Khan

As we all know, Salman Khan is one large-hearted person, and he doesn’t need a reason to help those in need. While his donations through the being human foundation are well-known, even during the lockdown and the pandemic Salman became a true messiah for the needy. Firstly, he donated food packages for those in need, other than this, he financially helped 25000 daily wage workers who were affected in the lockdown. Moreover, Salman also donated money for the specially-abled workers in the film industry. He gave Rs 3000 each for the members of the All India Special Artist Association. 

Katrina Kaif

Not just the men, even the ladies from B-town went out of their way to help those in need. Actress Katrina Kaif, associated with the De’haat foundation through her beauty brand Kay Beauty in order to send help to the remote villages of Maharashtra. Not just did Katrina provide food essentials, but she even provided proper sanitation facilities to the women. Other than this Katrina gave the women in the village employment opportunity by providing them with cloth to make and sell face masks.    

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas also went beyond donating the PM Cares fund, other than this she and her husband Nick Jonas donated an undisclosed amount to 9 other charities like the UNICEF, Goonj, Doctors Without Borders, No Kid Hungry, and SAG-AFTRA. From feeding the hungry to supporting the needy and those helping deal with the pandemic, this couple had everyone’s back. 

They truly won hearts in tough times like these, by showing how humanity is always beyond stardom.
