TV host and veteran actor Shekhar Suman has revealed his short and dramatic political career with BJP. Suman has recently come out with a revelation in an interview on the occasion of the launch of his new show Shekhar Tonight that he was “pushed into a corner” and that he had to leave the party in 24 hours.

He admitted that he was only a “politician for a day" and that he knew he'd made a mistake and left right away. Suman drew parallels with a similar situation in 2011 when he was compelled to fight as a Congress candidate. Politics was never his job, he said, particularly as the satirist must be neutral.

The actor explained that his independence as an actor would be threatened if he joined any political party. His admission has brought about online discussion, and many have praised him for his candor. It's a surprise as Suman returns to late-night television with unabashed satire and fun.
