Actor Sonu S. Mmishra has come clean about his reasons for leaving the Kala Hiran project after only a two-day shoot, in the latest development in the subject. The film was supposed to be based on the Salman Khan case when he was caught blackbuck poaching in 1998, and Mishra was cast in the lead role as the superstar.

In a recent interview, Mmishra expressed his excitement about playing a role based on Salman but felt uneasy about the film's depiction of the negative aspects of his character. He asked to get hold of the script and contract, and he found that there was a clause in the contract that he had to do a statement against Salman Khan in the media. “All this is contrary to my ethics,” he said, adding that as a professional actor he did not want to be associated with any project that would unfairly sully a particular person's reputation.

Mmishra, who appeared with Salman in Sikandar, said that he left before finalizing the contract. This move is part of a series of such measures taken by veteran actor Govind Namdev and pending litigation by Salman Khan against the makers of the film. In this episode, there is a rising apprehension in Bollywood regarding ventures which are seen to be targeting big stars.
