Yash’s highly anticipated film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with an ‘A’ rating and no scene cuts. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the violent revenge drama starring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani and others runs over three hours and features mature themes, graphic violence and intimate content.
The CBFC only asked for two minor word replacements in the Kannada version (plus subtitle changes) and mandatory anti-smoking warnings. No visuals were removed.
This decision has sparked widespread amusement and criticism online. Netizens pointed out that the same board earlier deleted an 8-second kissing scene from Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Comments like “They only have a problem with Spiderman kissing” and jokes about cultural priorities flooded social media. Many compared it to stricter cuts faced by other violent Indian films.
The clearance clears the path for Toxic’s theatrical release on August 26, 2026, restricted to adult audiences.
