In Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated mythological epic Ramayana, Vivek Oberoi takes on the lesser-known but significant role of Vidyutjihva (also spelled Vidyutjivha). He is the demon prince of the Danava clan and the husband of Shurpanakha, Ravana’s sister, who is played by Rakul Preet Singh.
Though Vidyutjihva receives limited attention in many popular retellings, his story is closely tied to Ravana’s personal journey and rise to power. In the recently released trailer, Oberoi appears almost unrecognisable, covered in heavy armour, facial hair and elaborate headgear, sharing an intense fight sequence with Yash’s Ravana.
Fans believe the filmmakers are exploring deeper, lesser-known chapters of the epic rather than focusing only on the familiar narrative. Oberoi’s brief but impactful appearance has generated strong buzz, highlighting how even supporting characters are being given substantial weight in this grand adaptation starring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
