Weighing in on a social media storm, entrepreneur Ashneer Grover has described founder of digital productivity solutions Zoho, Sridhar Vembu's, plea to Indians in the US to come back to the country as "delulu."
In a passionate open letter, Vembu appealed to the Indian expat community to return with "missionary zeal" as "Bharat Mata needs your talent" to power India's technological advancement.
Grover responded, "How delulu!" The current record-breaking heat in India is confusing people. Just DON’T be scientific. $1 = ₹94. Temperature = 50°C.
His reaction aroused frustration at the practical issues of exchange rates, housing, and infrastructure, as opposed to Vembu’s nationalistic hype. The debate has sparked off a virtual debate—with some lauding Grover's pragmatism and others endorsing Vembu's patriotic stance.
The online feud has once again brought up questions of a brain drain, return migration, and realities for NRIs returning to India.
