On Monday, May 16, India reported 2,202 fresh cases and 27 fresh fatalities due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, as per the data update by the Union Health Ministry. The overall caseload of Covid-19 in the country has reached 4,31,23,801, said the ministry.
The active caseload in the country stands at 17,317. The Covid-19 positivity rate in the nation has reached 0.59 percent. With 27 fresh virus-related fresh fatalities, the death toll has climbed to 5,24,241, said the ministry.

Thane
Maharashtra's Thane district registered 31 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking the overall tally of Covid-19 to 7,09,368, as said by an official on Monday. As per the official, these cases were reported on Sunday.
Tamil Nadu
On Sunday, Tamil Nadu registered 30 fresh cases of Covid-19, taking the tally of the infections to 34,54,621, as per the health bulletin. With zero fresh fatalities being recorded in the last 24 hours, the death toll remains unchanged at 38,025, the bulletin said.
Delhi
In the last 24 hours, the national capital reported 613 fresh cases of Covid-19 along with 784 people recuperating from the deadly infection and three fresh fatalities, as per the city's health department. Active cases in the national capital have reached 3,762 while the positivity rate stands at 4.97 percent, said the health bulletin.
