On Tuesday, August 23, India reported 8,586 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 48 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. 

With this, the total caseload of infections has reached 4,43,57,546 and the death toll has climbed to 5,27,416, said the data. 

Comprising 0.22 percent of the total cases, the active caseload currently stands at 96,506, said the ministry.

With the recovery rate standing at 98.59 percent, the total tally of recoveries has climbed to 4,37,33,624 including 9,680 people recovering from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, as per the ministry. 

The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate currently stand at 2.19 percent and 3.31 percent, said the data. 

Delhi 

On Monday, the national capital logged 625 fresh coronavirus cases along with 7 fresh fatalities, per the State health bulletin. The positivity rate in the state currently stands at 9.27 percent, said the data. 

Maharashtra 

On Monday, Maharashtra reported 1,183 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 1 new fatality and 1,098 people recovering from the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the state have reached 11,725, said the data. 

Tamil Nadu 

On Monday, Tamil Nadu registered 591 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 696 people recovering from the disease and no fresh fatality in the last 24 hours, as per the State health department.
