On Saturday, India has reported 11,499 fresh coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, which is 12.6 per cent lower than yesterday, said the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. On Friday the country has recorded 13,166 fresh Covid- 19 cases, 26,988 recoveries, and 302 deaths. The death toll due to the viral infection has reached to 5,13,226. Of the total cases, 1.34 lakh are active Covid cases.
Mumbai
The state government of Maharashtra has directed to shut down all ward level Covid care centres. Now, the BMC has also decided to have just one Covid care centre operational per zone. According to a report, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray said that schools and other educational institutions will reopen with pre-covid timings for full attendance and extra curricular activities.
Delhi
The government data has shown that, every third person who died during the third Covid-19 wave between December 6, 2021 and February 24 this year in Delhi was aged between 61 and 75.
On Friday, Delhi has reported 460 fresh Covid-19 infections and 2 deaths. Active cases in the state currently stand at 2,085, with 56,984 Covid-19 tests conducted on Friday, the positivity rate dropped to 0.81 percent, according to the city health department.
On Friday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to lift all Covid-19 restrictions in the capital, including the night curfew and 50 per cent capacity rule at restaurants and bars. The restrictions are likely to be lifted from Monday onwards. All schools will begin physical classes from April 1.
