On Friday, India has reported 15,786 fresh Covid-19 infections and 231 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per data updated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India's caseload of active cases now stands at 1,75,745 which is the lowest in 232 days. Active cases account for less than 1% of the total cases in the country, currently at 0.51% which is the lowest since March 2020. The total death toll in the country has now climbed to 4,53,042. 

As per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, the country reported a total of 18,641 recoveries in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recovery rate at around 98.16% which is the highest since March 2020 and total recoveries data has now reached to 3,35,14,449.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 59,70,66,481 samples have been tested up to October 21 for Covid-19. Of these 13,24,263 samples were tested on Thursday.

On crossing the landmark figure of 100 crores,  PM Modi wrote in an opinion piece, "When everyone takes ownership, nothing is impossible. Our healthcare workers traversed hills and crossed rivers across difficult geographies to vaccinate people. Our youth, social workers, healthcare workers, social and religious leaders, all deserve credit for the fact that India faces minimal vaccine hesitancy when compared to even developed nations."
