On Saturday, India has reported 22,775 new coronavirus cases and 406 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by Health Ministry. Active caseload currently stands at 1,04,781 while recovery rate currently is 98.32%. Several states across India reported a huge spike in Covid-19 numbers on New Year’s eve. While Maharashtra reported fresh 8,067 cases of Covid-19, West Bengal and New Delhi reported 3,451 and 1,796 cases respectively.
Currently, Omicron cases tally in India stands at 1,431.
CoWin registrations for the Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 15 to 18 years begins today.
"Let's get ready to ensure COVID vaccination of all eligible citizens. Registrations on #CoWIN for 15-18 year old children starts from 1st January 2022. #LargestVaccineDrive #Unite2FightCorona," tweeted the Ministry of Health on Friday.
Delhi saw a big spike in coronavirus cases with 1,796 fresh infections. Delhi’s Omicron tally on Saturday rose to 351, with 31 new Omicron cases reported. Delhi has the second highest number of omicron cases in the country after Maharashtra. Meanwhile,1,796 fresh Covid-19 cases, and zero deaths were recorded in the capital on Friday. This is the highest single-day rise since May 22. The positivity rate also mounted to 2.44 per cent.
