On Saturday, India has registered 11,850 fresh Covid-19 cases, which is 5% lower than yesterday's figure, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. Along with 555 fresh fatalities the country registered 12,403 recoveries over the last 24 hours, said the data. Total cases rise to 34,426,036 including 33,826,483 recoveries, 463,245 deaths and 136,308 active cases. 

Currently, the active coronavirus cases in India account for 0.40 per cent of total infections, which is the lowest since March 2020 . The country's caseload of 1,37,416 is the lowest in 267 days.

Besides, as per the  long-awaited analysis published in The Lancet, Covaxin, the coronavirus vaccine developed by the government's medical research agency and Bharat Biotech, was found to have a 77.8 per cent efficacy rate against symptomatic COVID-19.  

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), More than 58.42 lakh doses are administered in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, more than 18.53 crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses are still available with states/UTs, said the health ministry.
