On Wednesday, India has registered 14,623 fresh cases of coronavirus infections. With this the total tally of Covid-19 cases has reached to 3,41,08,996. The active cases have declined to 1,78,098, which is the lowest in 229 days, as per the Union Health Ministry data update. The country has recorded 3,34,78,247 till date, while the death toll has climbed to 4,52,651 with 197 fresh fatalities, as per the data updated at 8 am.
The daily rise in fresh cases of Covid-19 infections has been below 30,000 for 26 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 115 consecutive days. The active cases constitute 0.52% of the total infections which is the lowest since March 2020. The national Covid-19 recovery rate is recorded at 98.15% which is the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.
As per the reports by Economic Times, "India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. India crossed the grim milestone of two crores on May 4 and three crores on June 23."
