India has reported 16,862 fresh daily Covid-19 cases and 379 deaths in the past 24 hours. Country's recovery rate currently stands at 98.07% which is the highest since March 2020. The tally has now reached to 34,037,592. India's active caseload stands at 2,03,678 which is the lowest in 216 days. 

As per Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), over 11 lakh samples were tested in the last 24 hours with which the total tests conducted so far crossed 58.88 crores on Friday. A total of 11,80,148 samples were tested on Thursday to detect the presence of the virus in the population. So far, 58,88,44,673 tests have been conducted across the country since the onset of the pandemic last year. 

Daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 21 straight days. Less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 110 consecutive days. Active cases comprise 0.60% of the total infections which is the lowest since March 2020. Recovery rate stands at 98.07%, the highest since March 2020.
