On Monday, August 08, India reported 16,617 fresh Covid-19 cases, along with 41 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. With this, the overall caseload of Covid-19 infections in the country has climbed to 4,41,61,899, ad the death toll has reached 5,26,730, as per the ministry. 

The active caseload 

Comprising 0.31 percent of the total infections, the active caseload in the country currently stands at 1,35,510, said the ministry. With the recovery rate standing at 98.50 percent, the total tally of recoveries in the country has climbed to 4,34,99,659 including 15,549 people recovering from the infection in the last 24 hours, as per the data.

The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate currently stand at 6.14 percent and 4.64 percent respectively, said the ministry. 

Delhi 

On Sunday, the national capital reported 2,423 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 2 fresh fatalities and 1,725 people recovering from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, as per the state health department. 

Maharashtra 

On Sunday, Maharashtra logged 1,812 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 1 fresh fatality, as per the state health bulletin. With this, the overall caseload of Covid-19 infections in the state has climbed to 80,59,732, and the death toll has reached 1,48,139, said the bulletin.
