On Monday, India has reported 1,79,723 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 12.6% higher than yesterday, said the health ministry. The total caseload has reached to 3,57,07,727. As many as 146 deaths were reported in the country over the last 24 hours, the total death toll has climbed to 4,83,936. Active case tally reaches 7,23,619. Daily Positivity rate at 13.29%, said the health ministry.
The top five states to register maximum cases are Maharashtra 44,388 cases, West Bengal with 24,287 cases, Delhi with 22,751 cases, Tamil Nadu with 12,895 cases and Karnataka with 12,000 cases. Maximum deaths were reported in Kerala (44), followed by West Bengal with 18 daily deaths.
Omicron Cases
Maharashtra recorded the maximum number of 1,216 Omicron cases, followed by Rajasthan 529, Delhi 513, Karnataka 441, Kerala 333 and Gujarat 236.
Delhi Police Personnel infected
In Delhi, due to a surge in Covid-19 infections, more than 300 Delhi Police personnel, including the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), have tested positive for Covid-19, said the officials on Monday.
"More than 300 police personnel have been infected. They belong to different units of the force and are under quarantine," said a senior police officer.
