On Friday, July 08, India reported 18,815 fresh cases of coronavirus along with 38 new fatalities and 15,899 people recovering from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry.
With this, the overall caseload of Covid-19 infections has climbed to 4,35,85,554, and the death toll has climbed to 5,25,343. Comprising 0.28 percent of the total infections, the active caseload stands at 1,22,335, said the ministry.

With the recovery rate standing at 98.51 percent, the total tally of recoveries has climbed to 4,29,37,876, showed the data. The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate stand at 4.96 percent and 4.09 percent respectively.

Maharashtra's Thane district
Thane district of Maharashtra reported 267 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the overall tally to 7,30,694, as said by an official. Currently, in the district, there are 3,088 active cases of Covid-19, he said. With 3 fresh fatalities, the death toll has reached 11,912, he said.
Assam
In the last 24 hours, Assam logged 273 fresh Covid-19 cases, as per the state health bulletin. The active caseload in the state currently stands at 1,138. With one new virus-related fatality in the last 24 hours, the death toll has reached 6,640, said the health bulletin.
Odisha
On Thursday, Odisha reported 428 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the overall tally of infections to 12,91,946, as per the health department. As per the department, there are 2,235 active cases in the state. The recovery tally stands at 12,80,532 and with no fresh fatality being reported, the death toll remains unchanged at 9,126, said the department.
Delhi
On Thursday, the national capital registered 579 new cases of coronavirus along with one fresh fatality, pushing the overall caseload to 19,39,227 and the death toll has climbed to 26,277, said the department.
