India has reported 18,833 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours, which pushed the nationwide tally to 33,871881, 263 deaths due to coronavirus were also recorded in the last 24 hours, as per the latest data update by Union health ministry.

On Tuesday, as per ICMR, the total number of samples tested up to October 5 is 57,68,03,867 including 14,09,825 samples tested on Tuesday. The active cases comprise 0.75% of the total infections which is the lowest since March 2020. The active caseload at present stands at 2,52,902 which is the lowest in 201 days. 

The World Health Organization's Covid-19 chief warned Tuesday "We're not out of the woods" in the fight against the pandemic, even if many people thought it was nearly over.

Maria Van Kerkhove, the technical lead for WHO's Covid-19, said last week 3.1 million known new cases were reported to the UN health agency, and 54,000 more deaths, though the true numbers would be much higher. During a live presentation on the WHO's social media channels, she said, "The situation is still incredibly dynamic. And it's dynamic because we don't have control over this virus." 

On Tuesday, India's cumulative Covid-19 vaccination administration has crossed 92 crores including more than 54 lakh Vaccine doses administered on Tuesday till 7 pm, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.  "In a significant achievement, India's Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 92 Crore landmark milestone (92,11,80,022) today. More than 54 lakh (54,08,420) vaccine doses have been administered till 7 pm on Tuesday," read a press statement from the Ministry.
