Covid Updates: India Reports 2,124 Fresh Cases, China reports 590 Cases

India reported 2,124 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. Read further to know about the nation's positivity rate.

On Wednesday, India logged 2,124 fresh cases of Covid-19 along with 17 fresh fatalities and 1,977 recoveries in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. With 17 fresh fatalities, the death toll has reached 5,24,507 in the last 24 hours, said the ministry. With active cases reaching 14,971, the daily positivity rate in the country stands at 0.46 percent, showed the data. 

Testing and Vaccination 

On Tuesday, a total of 4,58,924 samples have been tested for coronavirus. So far, 1,92,67,44,769 vaccine doses have been administered in the country including 13,27,544 vaccine doses being administered in the last 24 hours. 


590 Fresh cases in China 

As reported by the news agency Reuters, China registered 590 fresh cases of Covid-19 on May 24, out of which 117 cases were symptomatic and 473 cases were asymptomatic, said the National Health Commission on Wednesday. 

Coronavirus survivors on the risk of having blood clots 

As per a new CDC study published on Tuesday, the survivors of coronavirus are having a double risk of developing dangerous blood clots that travel to their lungs compared to people who weren't infected, also they have double chances of catching respiratory issues, reported the news agency AFP. 

Maharashtra 

On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported 338 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking the total tally of infections in the state to 78,83,348, as per the health bulletin. With one fresh fatality, the death toll in the state has climbed to 1,47,857, said the bulletin. 

Delhi 

On Tuesday, the national capital reported 418 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total tally of infections to 19,04,240, as per the data shared by the city's health department. With two fresh fatalities due to the viral infection, the death toll in the national capital stands at 26,203, said the department.
