On Friday, 21,257 people have tested positive for the coronavirus infection. India's total tally of cases has reached to 3,39,15,569, while the number of active cases declined to 2,40,221 which is the lowest in 205 days, as per the latest data updated by the Union Health Ministry.
The death toll has climbed up to 4,50,127 with 271 new fatalities, as per the data updated at 8 am. India's active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.71%; lowest since March 2020
The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.96% which is the highest since March 2020. At least 24,963 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the total number of recoveries to 3,32,25,221 in India.
Moreover, over 93.17 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in India till date. The government said 71% of India's adult population have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, whereas 27% have received both doses.
On Thursday, British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis tweeted, "No quarantine for India travellers to United Kingdom fully vaccinated with Covishield or another UK-approved vaccine from 11 October. Thanks to Indian government for close cooperation over last month."
