On Thursday, India has reported 2,47,417 fresh cases of Covid-19 infections, which is the highest single-day rise in the ongoing wave, the total tally of COVID-19 cases has reached to 3,63,17,927, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated today. As per the ministry, the daily positivity rate stands at 13.11 per cent, which is up by 11.5% from yesterday, while the weekly positivity rate stands at 10.80 per cent.

With 380 fresh fatalities due to the virus, the caseload of total fatalities in India has reached to 4,85,035, while active cases has climbed to 11,17,531, the ministry said. The active cases comprise 3.08 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate decreased to 95.59 per cent, the ministry said. 

Bharat Biotech 

On January 12, Bharat Biotech has said that Covaxin booster dose is able to neutralise Omicron and Delta variants of Covid-19. "These data add to the body of the evidence that the broad spectrum mechanism of action of a whole virus inactivated COVID-19 vaccine, like Covaxin is a viable option in this continuously evolving pandemic," said the company.
