On Monday, India has recorded 2,503 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 27 fresh fatalities due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, which is 20 per cent less than the cases recorded on Sunday, as per the latest data updated by the Union Health Ministry. As per the ministry, the country's active Covid-19 cases have fallen to 36,168, while the death toll stands at 5,15,850.
As per the data, weekly positivity rate has declined to 0.50 per cent, daily positivity rate has fallen down to 0.41 per cent. As reported by PTI, daily Covid-19 cases in country have been recorded as the lowest in 676 days.
China imposes lockdown as Covid-19 cases surged
China's Shenzhen and Shanghai have imposed strict Covid-19 measures in order to control a rapid resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the country.
The recent spike in coronavirus cases has led to allowing rapid antigen tests for public use and resulted in the dismissal of senior officials for their slack response to the ongoing health crisis. The latest spike, described as the severest Covid-19 outbreaks in two years, has forced several major cities to go into lockdowns.
On Monday, the national health authority said that mainland China has reported 1,437 new confirmed coronavirus cases on March 13. Of the new cases, 1,337 were locally transmitted, the National Health Commission said, compared with 1,807 a day earlier. The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, stood at 906 compared with 1,455 a day earlier. There were no new deaths, leaving the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
Covid-19 cases in Karnataka
In the last 24 hours, Karnataka has recorded zero Covid deaths, which is the first time since June 5, 2020 that the state has registered no fatalities, as per the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Covid-19 latest update in Delhi
On Sunday, Delhi has reported 132 fresh Cocid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 0.38 per cent, as per the data shared by the city health department. With this, the national capital's case load has reached to 18,62,934, stated the latest health bulletin. Meanwhile, with zero fresh fatality due to the viral infection in the city, the death toll remained unchanged at 26,141.
