On Wednesday, India has reported 2,82,970 fresh Covid-19 cases and 441 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. With Daily positivity rate standing at 15.13%, the caseload of active cases in the country has reached 18,31,000, said the ministry. The death toll has reached to 4,87,202 with recovery rate of the country standing at 93.88 per cent.
As per the data, the total caseload of Covid-19 stands at 3,79,01,241. The maximum cases are registered in Karnataka at 41,457 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 39,207 cases, Kerala with 28,481 cases, Tamil Nadu with 23,888 cases and Gujarat with 17,119 cases. Out of the new cases around 53.07 per cent are reported from these five states, with Karnataka alone responsible for 14.65 per cent of the new cases.
The peak of third wave to hit soon
As per the latest analysis done by the scientists on country's Covid-19 situation, it has been revealed that the overall peak of the third wave in India will arrive on January 23 but the daily case is unlikely to cross 4 lakh. Delhi, Mumbai have already reached their peak earlier in the second week of January, the Sutra model of Covid tracker said.
