On Thursday, May 5, India registered 3,275 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 55 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. With 3,010 fresh recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total tally of recoveries in the country has reached 4,25,47,699, the data showed.
Death toll and Positivity rate
With 55 fresh virus-related fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll in the country has reached 5,23,975, the ministry said. Active cases in the country currently stand at 19,719. As per the Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate in the nation stands at 1.07 percent and the weekly positivity rate stands at 0.70 percent.

Delhi
On Wednesday, Delhi reported 1,354 fresh Covid-19 cases and one virus-related fatality, as per the data shared by the city health department. The positivity rate in the national capital stands at 7.64 percent, the data showed. With fresh cases, the infection tally in Delhi climbed to 18,88,404 and the death toll has reached 26,177, the data showed. The active cases in the national capital stood at 5,853.
Tamil Nadu
On Wednesday, as per the state health department, seven districts in Tamil Nadu including Chennai reported 37 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the overall caseload to 34,54,095. With zero fresh fatality in the last 24 hours, the death toll remains unchanged at 38,025. With 58 fresh recoveries in the state, the tally of recoveries has reached 34,15,603, said the health bulletin.
