On Thursday, India registered 3,303 fresh cases, pushing the tally to 4,30,68,799 in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. With this, the active cases increased to 16,980, the data showed. With 39 fresh fatalities due to the virus in the last 24 hours, the death toll has climbed to 5,23,693, said the Health ministry.
Delhi
On Wednesday, the national capital registered 1,367 fresh Covid-19 cases, as per the health department. With one virus-related fresh fatality in the city, the positivity rate has reached 4.50 percent.
High Positivity rate with fewer hospitalizations
Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Dr. Satyendar Jain said that at present there are 5,000 fresh cases in the national capital. However, the hospitalizations are very less. Out of 10,000 beds, only 100 beds are occupied in the hospitals. The state government is also preparing to administer the booster dose, he further added.
PM Modi asks to arrange special campaigns for vaccinations in Schools
On Wednesday while attending a meeting with CMs, PM Modi instructed to arrange special campaigns for the vaccination of children in Schools. He said that vaccination of children is the topmost priority right now.
Booster shot to be administered within 6 months
On Wednesday, official sources said that the government is likely to reduce the gap between the second dose of vaccine against Covid-19 and the booster dose by 6 months. In this reference, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) will conduct a meeting on April 29.
