On Tuesday, India has reported 5,784 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 7,995 new recoveries and 252 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per health ministry’s updated data. The number of fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours is the lowest in 572 days.
India's Covid-19 recovery rate currently stands at 98.37%, which is the highest since March 2020, said the health ministry. The caseload of active cases in the country stands below 90k (88,993), which is the lowest in 563 days.

Meanwhile, Kerala has reported 2,434 new cases, Tamil Nadu 657 and Maharashtra 569. In the last 24 hours, Kerala has reported 203 new deaths (including 165 backlog), Tamil Nadu 12 and West Bengal 10.
Mumbai
BMC has said, "our medical teams will be conducting RT-PCR Covid19 testing at the residential buildings of actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora. Sanitisation of the building premises will also be done."
Omicron in Delhi
“Eight new cases of Omicron variant have been reported from the state. Three from Sikar’s Ajitgarh, four from Jaipur’s Adarsh Nagar and one student who arrived from Ukraine on December 6 have tested positive for the variant,” said Dr Ravi Prakash Sharma, additional director, rural health.
