On Friday, September 16, India reported 6,298 new cases of coronavirus along with 23 new fatalities and 5,916 people recovering from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. According to the data, the overall death toll due to Covid-19 in the nation has climbed to 5,28,273.
Comprising 0.1 percent of the total caseload, the active cases currently stand at 46,748, as per the data. With the recovery rate at 98.71 percent, the total tally of recoveries in the nation has climbed to 4,39,47,756, including 5,916 people recuperating from the infection in the last 24 hours, said the ministry.

The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate currently stand at 1.89 percent and 1.70 percent respectively, said the ministry.
Delhi
On Thursday, the national capital reported 116 fresh cases of coronavirus along with the positivity rate standing at 0.97 percent and three fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the State health department.
Maharashtra
On Thursday, Maharashtra reported 755 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 4 fresh fatalities, as per the data updated by the State health authorities. The active caseload in the state currently stands at 5,012, said the data.
Mumbai
On Thursday, Mumbai registered 138 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 1 fresh fatality and 289 people recovering from the disease in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
