Covid Updates: India reports 6,561 Fresh Cases

India has reported 6,561 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

On Thursday, India has reported 6,561 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to reach 4,29,45,160, as per the Union health ministry's data update. 

However, on Wednesday, India has reported a total of 6,561 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 4,29,38,599, whereas the active cases have dipped to 85,680, as per the Union Health Ministry data. 


With 223 fresh fatalities due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, the death count has climbed to 5,14,246, stated the government data.

The daily cases of Covid-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 24 consecutive days. The active cases comprises 0.20 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.60 per cent, said the ministry. 

Covid-19 cases in Delhi 

On Wednesday, Delhi has recorded 325 fresh Covid-19 cases and one death, stated the city health department data. The positivity rate of the national capital stands at 0.81 percent. The cumulative case count of the state has reached to 18,60,561 and the death toll is standing at 26,127. 

Maharashtra's Thane district 

Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 34 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, with this the caseload has climbed to 7,08,366, as per the state health department's data. 

Australia reopens borders for vaccinated travelers

On Thursday, Australia has fully reopened its borders for vaccinated travelers. In 2020, Western Australia had closed its borders for a majority of international and interstate travelers in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19.  

West Bengal records zero Covid-19 deaths 

On Wednesday, West Bengal has reported no fresh fatality due to Covid-19 for the first time in weeks and the state's death toll remain unchanged at 21,178.
