On Tuesday, India has reported 6,822 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 10,004 recoveries in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in 558 days, said the Union ministry of health and family welfare. With 10,004 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries has reached to 3,40,79,612. At present, India's active caseload stands at 95,014. The recovery rate is currently standing at 98.36 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020.
Vaccination
With the administration of 79,39,038 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 128.76 crore (1,28,76,10,590), said the Union ministry of health and family welfare.
'Additional' Covid-19 vaccine doses
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has appealed to the Centre to announce the administration of "additional" doses of Covid-19 vaccine for healthcare, frontline workers and immunocompromised individuals. "At this juncture, IMA also appeals to the government to officially announce additional dose (of vaccine) be given to healthcare, frontline workers and immunocompromised individuals to augment the immunity," the IMA said.
Omicron infected case
On Tuesday, a senior official said that a 46-year-old Bengaluru doctor, who was among the first cases of Omicron in India, has again tested positive for Covid-19. The RT-PCR test was conducted seven days after his last test, as per the mandate issued by the Health ministry. He will be kept under observation for another seven days and be discharged only after a negative RT-PCR test, the official said.
