On Saturday, India has reported 7,145 Covid cases and 289 deaths in the last 24 hours. The country's active caseload has reached to 84,565, which is the lowest in 569 days. The active caseload accounts for less than 1% of total cases and is currently at 0.24%. This is the lowest since March 2020.

With the country reporting 8,706 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate in the country stands at 98.38%, which is highest since March 2020. The recovery tally of the country has reached to 3,41,71,471 in the country. 

Quarantine Mandatory 

On Saturday, Nepal made two weeks quarantine mandatory for travelers arriving mainly from European and African countries. "Passengers, traveling from the countries mentioned, are requested to stay in Hotel Quarantine for 7 days at their own expense. After staying seven days in Hotel Quarantine, in case of a negative test of Covid-19 by RT-PCR method, it is requested to stay in the home quarantine for additional 7 days and send the person with a positive result to the designated isolation center or hospital," Nepal's ministry of home affairs said in a statement. 

Omicron Variant 

On Friday, India's Omicron tally crossed the 100-mark, 15 days after the first patient was detected in Karnataka on December 2. The country recorded 26 new cases with the highest single-day tally of the variant detected in the country, the Omicron count on Friday was 113.
