On Monday, for the first time after two months, less than 10 thousand corona cases have been registered in the country. In the last 24 hours, 8,013 new cases of corona virus were reported and with 119 fresh fatalities due to the viral infection, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. The nation has also reported 16,765 recoveries in the last 24 hours, as per the health ministry. Earlier, on December 29 last year, 9195 corona cases were recorded. With this the daily positivity rate of the country has declined to 1.11 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate has declined to 1.17 per cent. Till date India has conducted 76.74 crore Covid tests and administered 177.50 crore vaccine doses, said the ministry's data.

A total of 4,29,24,130 people have been infected since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Out of these, 5,13,843 people have died. So far 4,23,07,686 people have also been cured. The number of corona active cases in the country is standing at around 1 lakh. A total of 2,02,601 people are still infected with the corona virus, who are undergoing treatment.

On Sunday, actor Shruti Haasan updated her social media followers that she has tested positive for Covid-19. The actor shared a picture on Instagram, that read, "Hi everyone! A quick not so fun update. Despite all safety measures I have tested positive for Covid. I'm on the mend and can't wait to be back very soon! Thank you and see you soon lovelies."
